(Republican Party News) – The Democrats of the Lone Star State are losing their minds after Republican Governor Greg Abbot lifted the statewide mask mandate.
Abbot signed an executive order this week declaring that coronavirus restrictions will end on Wednesday, March 10.
Naturally, the same Democrats who likely aren’t concerned about the COVID-positive illegal aliens being released into the interior of their state objected loudly.
Austin’s Democrat Mayor Steve Adler promptly urged Abbot to keep the mandate in place.
I just announced Texas is OPEN 100%.
I also ended the statewide mask mandate.

We are urging @GovAbbott to keep the mask mandate in place. Wearing masks keeps our businesses and schools safely open, decreases community spread of the virus and saves lives. #WearAMask @TravisCoJudge pic.twitter.com/Z0tas0JPim

The political attacks came swiftly as well.
Harris County Democrat Judge Lina Hidalgo accused Abbot of trying to cover up for February’s energy grid crisis amid historic low temps.
I suppose it didn’t bother her that much of the crisis was actually caused by federal “green” energy standards that failed. And how, exactly, does lifting a mask mandate cover up for something entirely unrelated, anyway?
At best, this is wishful thinking, that COVID is somehow less dangerous than it was yesterday. At worst, it is a cynical attempt to distract Texans from the failures of state oversight of our power grid.https://t.co/w5C0GW9u7p

The Democrat mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, declared himself to be “disgusted” with the move.
(I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Abbot has, in fact, done nothing to prevent anyone who would like to continue wearing a mask to do so. Just saying.)
Every time we start moving in the right direction the Governor steps in and sets us back and makes all of our jobs harder. He minimizes the sacrifices of people and businesses. I just don’t get it. st

Meanwhile, Fort Bend County Judge KP George announced that he would keep the restriction in place in his county.
He also claimed Abbot was ignoring “science.”
Since facial coverings were implemented, we experienced a major reduction in cases & hospitalizations. Science shows us that communities are freer and fare better when more citizens wear simple masks. In Fort Bend, we continue to listen to the doctors, facts, and the science. pic.twitter.com/ZqetO2HeCT

“Since facial coverings were implemented, we experienced a major reduction in cases & hospitalizations,” George announced in a statement. “Science shows us that communities are freer and fare better when more citizens wear simple masks. In Fort Bend, we continue to listen to the doctors, facts, and the science.”
San Antonio’s Democrat Mayor Ron Nirenberg declared Abbott was making a “huge mistake.”
Opening everything to 100% while simultaneously nixing our state's mask mandate is a huge mistake.
COVID-19 is still widespread in our community and infecting far too many vulnerable residents.
Please join me in continuing to wear a mask.
We're not out of the woods yet. https://t.co/aYwaaWV6Xt

“Please join me in continuing to wear a mask,” Nirenberg wrote (again…Texans are still free to wear the masks. No one is saying they can’t.)
Dallas County Democrat Judge Clay Jenkins suggested that lifting the mask mandate would result in more dead people.
“You should focus on what doctors, facts and science say is safe; not on what Gov. says is legal!” (I mean, how many times do we need to point this out—you can keep wearing a mask.)
@GovAbbott wants to change the subject from his failure to protect the power grid and all the damage it caused you. But Texans can walk and chew gum. #WearAMask and hold the Gov, @txrrc @TexasHouse @TexasSenateGOP accountable to weatherize, modernize and make you whole!

Hilariously, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom, who is currently facing a very real recall over his own far-reaching COVID mandates declared Abbot’s freedom to be “absolutely reckless.”
Absolutely reckless. https://t.co/3O5GsbSLpM

Yeah, Newsom might not want to weight in on this one.
